Coffee with Claire for January 9, 2011

A rather grim Coffee, as I talk about the rise of far-right violence in America and place the blame squarely on the shoulders of self-serving media nitwits and authoritarian presidential wannabes. On a lighter note, I welcome back Don (aka TheRogueMoon) and have fun with three potential Dim Bulbs of the Week. Don’s new channel can be found at http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRogueMoon
I also had a request for the link to the JewsforJesus video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7LsVMZ7kb0

@RHYMEMAIDEN1 SMB …
@RHYMEMAIDEN1 SMB and KMSLA! lol!
@RHYMEMAIDEN1 I …
@RHYMEMAIDEN1 I think it came from daddi hovind. I was watching an old creotard video from a pastor whose seminar was a word for word repitition of Kent Hovind arguments, and this was one of his arguments. AIG uses it too though with their “same evidence different presuppositions” argument.
@RHYMEMAIDEN1 They …
@RHYMEMAIDEN1 They did become the leading force in the use of, well, force. It always amazes me, how people wonder about how Hitler rose to power, when the man simply had his critics killed. Perhaps you were referring to the Communists of the Wiemar? Further, this killing was not an assassination, well, not likely one.
I like to keep an open mind, but that does not lead me to the conclusions you seem to have reached. Perhaps you could explain yourself more clearly.
PS That was sweet not sweat
@pumkinpi2 My …
@pumkinpi2 My reference to Weimar had to do with rising violence and rampant assassination of political opponents by the far right. It wasn’t a specific reference to the Nazis who, prior to 1930, were a minor political party (2.8% of the vote in the Reichtag elections of 1928).
@RHYMEMAIDEN1 I …
@RHYMEMAIDEN1 I have, and I do find it disturbing, but I don’t see any main stream, sanctioned effort, that would justify your comparisons to Nazi actions in the Wiemar Republic. Really, my sweat mountain flower, you should shy away from hyperbole, as much as you should disdain it.
Thanks Claire. I …
Thanks Claire. I always enjoy your videos, & delighted to have you demonstrate that not all Southerners are willfully ignorant, belligerent Bible-thumpers–I need to be reminded of that sometimes, esp. after excessive exposure to my relatives.
@JaredLeeLoughner2 …
@JaredLeeLoughner2 I was bit uneasy about your name and the video but decided to ok it.
I wish I could say …
I wish I could say I was surprised when I heard about the assassination attempt (pending her survival). I hope things get better down in the states. I’ve always said this about Americans, friendly people, but my god are they ever paranoid, irrational, and mean spirited when it comes to politics.
I linked one of my …
I linked one of my videos to yours here. Please accept the link.
@jhartist123 $4000! …
@jhartist123 $4000! good lord, is it a church or a business bent on making money? I guess in New Zealand we’re lucky in that ‘schools with a special character’ (aka religious and alternative schools) are funded by the tax payer along side public schools which mean that they’re subsidised but also in many cases the Catholic Church will provide free education and uniforms to those families who want to send their children to the school but don’t have the money to pay the fees.
@kawaiigardener, …
@kawaiigardener, yes, I agree our churches should put money into that especially instead of putting millions of $’s in extravegant church buildings. We can worship in a field or parking lot and certainly in a reasonable building. I live out in the country so even if I could aford the closest Christian school, an hour away. It’s over $4000 a year and I have 2 kids however there are homeschool options now I’m looking into but it’s not because there teaching evolution.
Yeah, I did a video …
Yeah, I did a video where I asked people to wait for the facts and to tone down the rhetoric and I got comments on it telling me I was a horrible, gay-hating Republican scumbag. Plus a change.
@foxlake02 Feel …
@foxlake02 Feel free, but I can’t take credit for that quote though. I’ll send you the original.
@GallusSapien Eric …
@GallusSapien Eric Hovind vintage, though he’s probably much too stupid to have come up with it himself.
@lawilson200 Indeed …
@lawilson200 Indeed, I already have several comments posted to this video in which rightwingers try to distance themselves.
@pumkinpi2 Honestly …
@pumkinpi2 Honestly honey, you haven’t been paying any attention to the hateful rhetoric coming from the fucknut right and stoked by Fox Noise at all, have you?
@Ricardius1710 That …
@Ricardius1710 That didn’t include shooting people in the head because you disagreed with them and calling for the violent overthrow of the government.
@jhartist123 If you …
@jhartist123 If you want religious studies at school then send your child to a religious school – I went through the Catholic education system and was taught both religious education and science side by side. Why don’t these mega churches in the US and their over paid pastors set up school to provide free education to all parishioners if parents are so concerned about having ‘balance at school’? It seems when push comes to shove most Christians can’t be bothered putting their money into action.
@pumkinpi2 ok
@pumkinpi2 ok
@Ricardius1710 SO, …
@Ricardius1710 SO, I guess you’re just alright with violence-laden metaphors and fucknut screaming for someobody’s head? Go yourself.
@RHYMEMAIDEN1 I …
@RHYMEMAIDEN1 I read it on on of the links at the bottom of the wikipedia page of this shooting incident. I’m sorry I cant remeber which one, but it could always have been a biased news source *cough* fox news
@Ricardius1710 …
@Ricardius1710 Where you learn to tap dance so well?
To use a tragedy …
To use a tragedy like this shooting as a springboard for politics is down right sickening! There is not a speck of evidence that this delusional psychotic idiot was influenced by idiots like Beck, O’relly, Palin, or god forsake, Bachmann. Early reports that this idiot was a far right teabagger shithead were just plain wrong, but it shows the hype, sensationalism, and liberal bias of the news media.
Claire, awesome …
Claire, awesome video…seen a lot of ChristianHillBilly’s stuff, and you just nailed him
That Sheriff was …
That Sheriff was way out of bounds with his comments! No good law enforcement officer would put things out in the public that are for one, detrimental to the case, and for two, things that are not proven but are straight out assumptions. This sheriff should not be reelected. He is partially responsible in starting a fire storm that didn’t need to be started!
