Democratic incumbent Marcy Kaptur and Republican challenger Rich Iott squared off in Sandusky Thursday morning, the latest site in a series of debates in the race for the 9th Congressional District seat.
But now a Nazi controversy is affecting the race.
Iott remained defensive about being pictured wearing an SS uniform at a war re-enactment a few years ago, sparking a controversy that has put Northwest Ohio in the national headlines and served as a punch-line for political commentators and comedians.
The Nazi controversy stayed as hot as the java served at the Sandusky Coffee-house where the debate was held. Iott found himself peppered with questions from the crowd.
